EdPuzzle
Quadrilateral Properties
This lesson is teaching students about the various proofs that help prove that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram. At the beginning of the lesson, I review the triangle congruence theorems with the students acting as a quick warm-up to get their minds on the right track and a refresher to get their minds fresh with the ideas previously gone over. Then I went over one proof showing them how the triangle congruence theorems can be used to prove what the question is asking. Then we get to why I used Edpuzzle to make this video. In the next step, I asked them to complete the proof independently. Usually, I would ask them to pause the video and do the proof on their own. Instead, I was able to pause the video for them and give them a prompt to answer an open-ended question asking them what theorems we used for the proof. Throughout the lesson, I ask them questions about the material or leave notes asking them to do something or to look at something in particular. This is why Edpuzzle is an excellent application to incorporate into your videos. While students are working on their ability to take notes while viewing online videos and using the play, pause, rewind, and stop buttons when needed, they are also submitting feedback letting us teachers know where the students are at in their learning.
